Get your show on YouTube Music, the easy way.
YouTube Music listens for podcasts through Google's podcast directory — the same kind of RSS feed you would paste into Spotify or Apple. Here's the calm walkthrough — no YouTube Studio uploads, no video required.
If you have never submitted a feed to a podcast directory before, do not worry. The whole thing is a single web form, and you can do it in a quiet afternoon with a cup of coffee. Read through once, then go do it.
- YouTube Music subscribes through Google's podcast directory, not YouTube Studio. You will not be uploading video or signing into YouTube Studio — this is the same RSS feed path as Spotify and Apple. Google reads your show straight from the feed, and new episodes show up automatically as they go live in Hearthcast.
- Find your RSS URL inside Hearthcast. Open your dashboard and look for the feed link next to your show. It is the long
https://...URL that ends in.xml. That is the one Google wants — copy the whole thing, including thehttps://. - Open the Google podcast submission page. Go to podcasts.google.com/submit in any browser on a laptop or tablet. (The mobile app does not submit podcasts — the web form is the only entry point.)
- Sign in with any Google account. A free Gmail address is the easy choice, but any Google account works. If you use YouTube or Google Drive, you already have one — use that.
- Paste your RSS URL and fill in the show metadata. When Google asks for the feed link, paste the long
https://…xmlURL you copied in step one. Google will pull your show's name, description, and cover art straight from the feed, so you should not have to retype anything. Add a short description and pick a category that fits — you can change it later without re-submitting. - Hit
Submit
. That's it.Google sends a confirmation email within a few minutes. You do not need a separate review window like Apple or Spotify — once you have submitted, the show is eligible to show up in YouTube Music's podcast tab. - Wait for Google to index your show. Google refreshes the index every few hours, so new episodes you publish in Hearthcast after that point get picked up automatically. You do not need to re-submit each episode, and you do not need to do anything while you wait.
- What you do not need to worry about.Editing a description, moving a category, swapping cover art — Google's podcast tools handle all of it later, and Hearthcast will start using the new details the next time the feed refreshes. There is no penalty for going back and tweaking.
Questions a first-timer hits
A short list of the things newcomers ask most. If yours is not here, the door at the bottom of the page goes straight to a human.
- Do I have to upload my show through YouTube Studio?
- No. YouTube Music's podcast tab is fed by Google's podcast directory, which pulls your show straight from your Hearthcast RSS feed. You do not need to record video, upload anything to YouTube Studio, or set up a YouTube channel — the same RSS URL you already use for Spotify and Apple is enough.
- Do I need a Google account?
- Yes, but a free one is fine. Any Google account works — Gmail, a workspace email, or the one you already use for YouTube or Google Drive. You do not need a paid plan.
- Can I claim a show that already exists on YouTube Music?
- Usually yes. After you submit, Google may show a listing that matches your show name. Google's verification email walks you through claiming it. If anything gets stuck, the human at the bottom of this page can guide you through it.
- How long does Google take to index my show?
- Indexing usually happens within a few hours of submitting, occasionally up to a day. New episodes you publish through Hearthcast after that point are picked up every few hours — no re-submission needed.
- Does the cover art I uploaded to Hearthcast automatically carry over?
- Yes. Google pulls the cover art straight from your RSS feed, so the image you upload in Hearthcastis what listeners see in YouTube Music's podcast tab. Keep it square and at least 1400×1400 pixels for the crispest result.
- What about the category — does it matter?
- Pick the closest fit. You can change it later from Google's podcast tools without re-submitting, and Hearthcast will pick up the new details the next time the feed refreshes.
